Grace Removals is helping Canterbury Tactix Player of the Year, Mwai Kumwenda, get much needed items to her village in Malawi.
Kumwenda, who currently plays in the Australasian ANZ Netball Championship, decided to collect unwanted items for her village after seeing her sponsor mum, Karen Hansen, sorting through the clothes her children had grown out of.
Kumwenda asked Karen if she could save the clothes for villagers in Malawi as many children are not permitted to attend school if they are not fully clothed.
Word soon got around and within 3 weeks, Kumwenda had a double garage full of cartons of second hand clothes, books, school desks, school supplies and bikes.
Mainfreight NZ agreed to ship the goods as far as Mozambique but Kumwenda still needed to get the items to the port. That’s where Grace Removals came on board.
Grace has agreed to collect the empty container, repack some of the goods, load the container and deliver to port at no charge.
Kumwenda is still in the process of raising $10,000 to get the goods from Mozambique to landlocked Malawi. If you would like to support Kumwenda, go to http://www.tactix.org.nz/
Grace Removals is proud to be a part of this wonderful initiative.
