Faults in New Zealand Buildings Going Unfixed

Wellington

Leading Wellington building surveyor, Thomas Wultzer, has revealed details of hidden and sometimes life-threatening faults on buildings.

These faults have been found in apartment complexes, including a Wellington apartment block that was not bolted to its foundations.

Wutzler also came across a building that had walls so bad there was at risk of people falling through them.

According to Wultzer, a large percentage of office buildings and apartments are putting people’s lives at risk.

Those buildings in Wellington built prior to 2005 have significant life-threatening issues and remain in a state of despair with the cost of fixing the issues too expensive for owners to justify.

Often, new buildings that present faults are a result of people cutting corners after failing to calculate accurately how much the project was going to cost.
