While it might make more sense to you to find a new home close to work to minimise your commute, you need to take into consideration the impact that this will have on your children. The kids will be better able to settle in to their new home if they have an easy walk to school, local park facilities located close by and a home they can feel safe in.
Prepare your children
Often children can become anxious, stressed or upset by a move, especially one that’s international. Speak to your children about the move and help them look forward to it. Make sure you explain that they won’t have to leave their friends behind forever.
Make a plan
Making a plan for the move doesn’t only help you to understand what needs to be done and when, it also helps your family understand too. Although the most important thing might seem like organising visas and passports, it can actually be taking the time to work out what needs to be done and when. Don’t forget to include fun things for the family like farewell parties or a final dinner with friends. Moving overseas is an exciting time so celebrate it!
